Mexican prosecutors have obtained an arrest warrant for a friend of a North Carolina woman. who was found dead. On vacation last month in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Daniel de la Rosa, the attorney general of Baja California Sur, Mexico, was continuing the extradition process for the suspect in the death of Shanquilla Robinson. told local media on Wednesday.

Robinson, 25, was traveling with college friends at Winston-Salem State University when she was found dead at the vacation rental property, her father, Bernard Robinson, said.

Mexican authorities did not name the suspect but confirmed he is a US citizen believed to be in the US. More information was expected on Thursday.

No one has been charged in the case, and authorities have not released the names of Robinson’s friends. CNN has reached out to the US State Department for comment.

“An arrest warrant has already been issued against one of the alleged perpetrators, one of her friends, for harming the victim and for these acts,” the prosecutor said.

De la Rosa said the death did not result from an “argument” but from “the direct aggression of the man.”

“We are already following all relevant procedures, both the Interpol file and the extradition request,” he said.

Robinson last spoke to his mother, Salmondera, by phone on the morning of Oct. 28, his father told CNN last week. The next day, Shanquilla Robinson was found dead at her vacation rental, U.S. and Mexican officials said.

The cause of death was “acute spinal cord injury and atlas luxation,” which is instability or excessive movement in the upper part of the neck, a copy of his death certificate states. CNN affiliate WBTV. She was found unconscious in the living room of the rented residence on October 29, the document said.

The death certificate classified Robinson’s death as “accidental or violent,” noting that there was about 15 minutes between injury and death.

Video posted online shows a physical altercation between Robinson and another man inside a room. It is not clear when the video was taken or if it shows the moment he suffered the fatal injury.

Bernard Robinson confirmed to CNN that the video shows Robinson being thrown to the floor and hit in the head.

It is unclear what led to the altercation or how many people were in the room at the time. It is also unclear whether anyone tried to intervene.

The FBI Charlotte Field Office has opened an investigation into the death of Shankella Robinson, it confirmed Friday.

Her father said a week ago that her family was waiting for more information from her friends and Mexican authorities.

“You’ve taken my only jewel from me,” he told CNN by phone. “You’ve made a big hole in my heart.” The only thing I can do is fight for it. I cannot let him die in vain.”
