I’m convinced that it’s been a long time since I’ve been ready for another Ronnie adaptation, so I’m looking forward to the “chat with friends” coming May 15.

I got my first bunch of local asparagus this week and put it to good use. Eric Kim’s recipe for creamy asparagus pastaWith its silky, seaweed sauce. There’s a quick and very smart technique in the dish: you boil the ragatoni in hot water with a sheet of dry kelp (like Korean desima or Japanese combo), then add more kelp to the garlic. Chopped asparagus and toasted seaweed (gym, nouri or seaweed snacks) are added at the end to the right for freshness and crunch. I doubled the asparagus using the whole large bunch, and there was still plenty of delicious sauce left to cover it all. The subtle seaweed flavor of the seaweed reminded me of a good old pramison – albeit with a delicious salty cook.
