Ronald Araujo: Barcelona star taken to hospital with concussion in 3-1 win

2 min read

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo was taken to hospital with an injury in the club’s 3-1 win over Celta Vigo on Tuesday.

Araujo left the field in the 67th minute after a collision with teammate Gavi and was sent to hospital for further tests.

The victory gave Barساa seven points ahead of third-placed Sevilla in La Liga and strengthened their grip on second place.

After a great piece of skill by Ousmane Dembélé and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Memphis Depay doubled Barcelona’s lead just before half-time to start scoring – despite a substantial dismissal in the first half.

Shortly after the break, Obamayang scored again with another assist from Dembele, but a wrong pass from goalkeeper Mark Andre Ter Stegen allowed Iago Spas to hold back one for Celta.

However, hopes of a comeback were dashed shortly after Jason Morello was sent to Depa for a challenge.

After that there was a long break in the game as Araujo was treated in an ambulance before being taken off the pitch and was replaced by Clement Langlett.

“Today, we did good things. The first half may have been a bit complicated, but in the second, it was much better,” Obamayang said.

“It’s good for us to continue to fight for this second place.”

Asked about Araujo’s condition after the game, Barcelona manager Zavi said the defender was “OK” and would remain in hospital overnight.

Barcelona have two league games left this season – against Getafe on Sunday and against Villarreal next week.
