Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings said the community could expect to see up to two feet of rain from Hurricane Ian.
“We haven’t come close to seeing the worst wind speeds within our county,” Demings said. “We’re also expecting up to two feet of rain. There’s no question, we’re going to have some flooding here in our area.
Demings said Orange County, which includes Orlando, is expected to feel the worst effects of Hurricane Ian in the late Wednesday and early morning hours.
“There’s no question that we’re now feeling the effects of this hurricane, and we haven’t seen the worst of it yet,” Demings said. “We have asked all our residents to start sheltering in place. You should not be moving about the community on the streets at this time.
Demings said people should be prepared for widespread power outages.
