Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hina Maliar says weapons supplied to Kiev by the United States and other partners are already on the front lines.
“Apart from the Julians and Stingers, the 155-mm American Howitzer is already being used up front,” Milliar said in a briefing on Wednesday.
“We are working to accelerate the pace of relief, because that is the life of our soldiers.”
A senior U.S. defense official told reporters Tuesday that the United States had transferred 89 of the 90 people it had agreed to surrender to Ukraine.
Maliar said that despite Russian efforts to destroy transport infrastructure, the supply of foreign weapons has returned to normal.
“We have already received a large number of weapons,” he added.
It also suggested that the new arrangements would help Ukraine maintain its long-running conflict.
“The loan lease package is currently being considered. We have the support of the European Union and other countries,” he said.
“That is, we are entering a new phase of the war. Russia is putting itself in a position where it will not be able to win the ‘war of goods’.”
“However, until that victory comes, we will have many difficult weeks, and maybe even months,” he said.
Maliar also said that Ukraine’s production lines were being expanded.
“We are placing a strategic condition on the development of our production. Manufacturers are already full of military orders by the end of the year. In addition, the Ministry of Defense buys protective equipment from abroad,” he said.
He said that in the first ten days of May, the Ukrainian Armed Forces received more than 34,000 body armor jackets.
