Three players were ejected after a bench-clearing brawl between Orlando Magic’s Mo Wagner and Detroit Pistons guard Kellyanne Hayes on Wednesday.

It certainly wasn’t close to the infamous “Malice at the Palace” rivalry during a Detroit game against the Indiana Pacers in 2004, but the incident still saw Wagner get tossed for a spectacular foul and Hayes and co. Along with the incident above the Pistons bench, several players on the Magic roster could be suspended for leaving their bench area to join the brawl.

NBA Rules State that “During the scrimmage, all players not participating in the game must remain near their bench.

“Violators are subject to a suspension for at least one game, without pay, and a fine of up to $50,000.”

The altercation began when Wagner and Hayes chased down a loose ball in Orlando’s backcourt. Wagner appeared to throw out an elbow that sent Hayes crashing to the Detroit bench.

Hayes returned to his feet and delivered a punch to the back of Wagner’s head, which appeared to knock the German forward unconscious.

“He’s fine,” Franz Wagner, Moe’s younger brother, told reporters, per ESPN. “I haven’t seen the video, but I know that’s the last thing he wanted to do.

Orlando Magic head coach Jamal Mosley has been suspended against the Detroit Pistons.

“We are aware of that. [leaving the bench area] rule, but such things usually happen in court, not on a single bench. “Your problem is that your partner is down in the middle of the whole other team.”

The Pistons beat the Magic 121-101, but Detroit head coach Dwane Casey said: “I need clarification on the decision because my understanding is that you can’t escalate a situation by leaving the bench area. .

“That’s when really bad things can happen.”
